Team Up: Gigs4Good Event 8/19

Team Up for Nonprofits Presents “Gigs4Good” with Alex Mercier and Bekker to Benefit Seattle Works

Concert series connects community and local nonprofit to raise awareness for leadership in volunteerism

Seattle, WA – Team Up for Nonprofits is proud to announce that Los Angeles-based singer Alex Mercier and local acoustic pop band Bekker will be performing at the next Gigs4Good fundraiser, with proceeds going to support Seattle Works. The benefit show will be Thursday, August 19 at the Hard Rock Café (116 Pike Street); tickets are available through Ticketweb ($20 Advance, $25 at the door ($15 Students at the door).

Seattle Works is a nonprofit group that informs, connects and inspires people in their 20s and 30s to take action in their communities. Last year alone, they facilitated more than 25,000 hours of volunteer service on 220 projects and provided tools for people to become active volunteers, savvy charitable donors and knowledgeable community leaders. Proceeds from this concert will go to support HandsOn Leadership, a training program designed to teach leadership skills and best practices in volunteer project management. “We are excited that these artists have come together with Team Up to help us promote the importance of civic engagement and community involvement,” says Seattle Works Executive Director, Tara Smith.

Alex Mercier, originally from Seattle, once aspired to be the next Stevie Ray Vaughn or Pat Metheny. Today, his music blends jazz, blues, rock and pop for a unique sound that’s all his own. He has landed songs on several hit T.V. shows since he moved to Los Angeles and his debut album is scheduled for release at the end of 2010. Opening act Bekker is an acoustic pop/rock band from Seattle with loads of talent and an undeniably infectious sound. The band’s introductory EP, First of Things to Come, came out October 2009 to high praise from local radio and press.

This event is sponsored by the Hard Rock Café Seattle and brought to you by Team Up for Nonprofits – an organization dedicated to connecting community members with deserving nonprofits and producing music events that make charitable giving fun and accessible for all audiences. The Gigs4Good concert series will bring a variety of artists to the best venues in the city, raise funds and awareness for the nonprofit, and provide an affordable alternative to the charity auction model.
